HP Friday: Ron Weasley - Legendary Ladies Man

Harry Potter Friday and whatnot. Thanks to Alice for hosting, and I'm positively verklempt that we're on our last book.

I have plans to start Philosopher's Stone the second we finish Deathly Hallows

Not a lot of whole thoughts happening this week, which means we're going straight to the bullet points:

  • Narcissa, you are a complicated lady. Her life has got to suck pretty hard right now.
  • The first mention of Harry comes on page 19: "Harry was bleeding."

FFS, Harry.

  • Like Harry, I hadn't even imagined Dumbledore in his youth. I hardly remember any of what's revealed in DH, but it better just enforce the fact that Dumbledore is wonderful and awesome and has never had any faults ever. (That's how this goes, right? RIGHT?)
  • Snape Sectum sempra'd George's ear off! Remember when Harry used sectum sempra on Draco and ripped his whole body right up? Can we take a moment to consider how tricky it would be to cast it targeting the ear and only the ear? Snape is a badass, is what I'm saying.

'Til next week, kindred.

  1. Snape is a paragon of wizardry. All the respect for his precision ear removal and for being a pretty great owl/man hybrid.

WHAT ARE WE GOING TO DO WHEN THERE ARE NO MORE HP FRIDAYS, KAYLEIGH?

  2. Oh shit, how have I searched for HP gifs for 6 months now and NEVER seen that Owlways gif? It is the greatest and most Harry Pottery gif that has ever gif'd.

RIP George's ear. (and Moody and stuff of course)

  3. Well. Snape did INVENT septum whathaveyou, so it makes sense that he can control it better than the stupid kid who used it without even knowing what it did. BUT of course Snape is a BADASS of epic proportions.

    Haaaaaaa, FFS Harry indeeeeed!

    1. I love that Ginny line in Half-Blood Prince (the movie), where Harry enters Hogwarts after getting his face stomped in and she says, "He's covered in blood. Why is he always covered in blood?"

  4. DAMMIT I WAS SAVING THAT OWLWAYS GIF FOR YOU KNOW WHEN. Like, two or three weeks from now, when.

I don't think I can read this series again for a while, and then next time I DO I'll be so sad you guys aren't around.

    1. HaHA! GIF snipe. (Please still use it. You use GIFs most excellently.)

You will just have to email/tweet or whatever at us. Reading Harry Potter takes a village.

  5. Oooo you think Snape only cut off George's ear on purpose? I assumed that he meant to do much worse than that but it missed a bit so George got lucky and only lost an ear. Interesting... hmmm...

    1. I think so! Because Snape needed to look like he was participating all violent-like, but didn't want to actually kill anyone. If George had gotten the full-body sectum sempra, like Draco did, he would be the most dead.

    2. Imma go ahead and say that it's for sure Snape intended to only slightly wound the good guys. Like...for SURE for sure. He's a good egg.

  6. I don't like to think about the time when we will be done with HP Fridays. There are enough sads in this book.

That is SUCH a good point about Snape only taking off George's ear. Snape has some skills

    1. NO KIDDING. How can we stop after this book? How even can we. Maybe we need to extend this thing by another 8 weeks and watch the movies. Denial. Denial is how we deal with this.

  8. Snape is for sure a BAMF. He totally controlled the spell with the sectumsempra for the twin's ear. And imagine how much more awesome he is for doing it while flying and aiming at a moving target? That could have gone wrong in so many ways. and I LOVE that owl gif.
